It's hard to believe it will be one year on July 18th that Mike went on to be with the Lord.  Let us continue to pray for each other that the God of Comfort will assist us in the continuous healing process!

Mike's favorite place was their Cabin up North.  Thanks to Hospice, he was able to make one last trip to the cabin before He went on to be with the Lord.

We met Mike and Sue in May of 2006, at what  originally was the Country Crock Campground at Lowes Motor Speedway.  There was always a kindred connection with Mike and myself.  We both had our bouts with alcoholism, which we were both able to overcome thanks to the Power of the Lord! It was always a blessings to see them at the May race. The whole Canadian group was always there to help, especially during our rookie year.

One day I received an email from Mike telling us that he had cancer.  At that time, the doctors said he only had eight months to live. We started keeping in touch more via email, and I was able to encourage them with scripture. We passed on the prayer requests and through the prayers of many people, Mike lived 2+ years and acknowledged that it was from prayer! When we saw them, we encouraged them to enjoy the extended time the Lord gave them!

In May of 2010, the Canadian group came down to see us.  Immediately upon arriving at the Campground, they told us Mike was in Hospice.  When I spoke to Mike in May, he informed me that he desired that I would do his celebration service when the time came for his departure from this earth to a far better place. I told him it would be an honor to do it for such a great Warrior against the ugly "C" word.  I was overwhelmed that I had such a Spiritual influence in their lives and that they would go to such great expense to get me there! There were even times Sue would call me to have prayer with Mike and the family.  The night before his passing was one of them.  We shared another time of prayer with the family that Sunday morning after Mike's soul departed to Heaven.  In a strange sense, it was a blessing to know that Mike and Sue had additional time to talk over many details before his departure.  The key thing Mike communicated to me was that the service was to be a celebration and not a time to weep over him since he was in a place where there are no more tears and no more pain!  I really believe Mike enjoyed his celebration from the balcony of Heaven!  Sue was faithfully by Mike's side through it all and shed many tears during the two years and coped with her mourning during that time. Everything was done the way Mike wanted it done.  This Memorial Page is in honor of Mike, a man who always had a way to make people laugh.  The scriptures say, that "laughter is a good medicine" and Mike certainly was the Doctor to do that! We miss his earthly presence, but his memories live on, and what a reunion we will have on Heaven's shore! My prayer is that each of you that reads this will be joining us! . . .
