Our Beloved Brother Mike Whitehead whom we've assisted with our prayer support has received his last checkered flag on earth. On Sunday, July 18th at 4:40 a.m. this great warrior peacefully slipped into the arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Many times it was mentioned by family and friends that his life was extended longer than the doctors expected because of your intercessory prayers for him! ~ Chaplain Joe
Mike Whitehead's "Celebration of Life and Graduation to a Better Place."
On Wednesday, July 21st and Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 it has been estimated that 500 or so people came to the two viewings and the Celebration Service. This indeed shows that Mike left a Legacy behind! The Celebration was indeed a service that Mike would have totally enjoyed! Mike always had a way to make people laugh! In the Book of Proverbs it mentions that "laughter is a good medicine!" Mike certainly supplied many good medicine! The service was opened with a flute solo by his sister of the song "Dixie" as many of you know Mike had the nickname of "Rebel." Mike loved the South.
It was at Charlotte Motor Speedway where my wife and I met Mike and Sue. After the solo some friends and family shared some things about Mike. Then I brought a message about how the Lord desires us to have personal relationship with Him and will forgive our past prodical lifestyle! Scriptures came from Luke 15. The simplicity of the Gospel was presented. Below you will find Mike's favorite song and the Poem that I read, as well as pictures of Mike's favorite spot "the Cabin."

As each of us knows, finances throughout our country have been challenged severely! We personally call upon people of faith to step up to the plate and believe and give! This winter has hindered GOD and NASCAR in its attempt to have any fund-raising activities. We have our faithful givers that "go the extra mile" - we are so thankful for them! What we now need is a large number of people that would give something! In the natural, my concerns are, "How are we going to do it this year?" But deep in my soul, the Holy Spirit speaks and says, "Have Faith; the Lord will provide!" Please pray and ask Him what part He wants you to do in assisting His ministry to the Racing Community! Why the Need for
GOD and NASCAR?
Auto racing has become the fastest growing and one of the most popular sports in America. It is a sport that is marked by great skill, remarkable technical innovation, intense personal commitment, and charismatic personalities. Each NASCAR race weekend, upwards of 200,000 people gather for the high-speed thrill and excitement of racing. All of this is part of the allure and appeal of racing today.
Behind all of the lights, interviews, television cameras and product endorse- ments, as well as the vast crowds in attendance, are people filled with needs. Many of those needs are rooted in spiritual realities that are often overlooked or misunderstood. From drivers, to crews, to sponsors, to owners, to fans, the universe of motor racing is very much like the rest of the world -- filled with fear, loneliness, broken relationships, and struggles. It is a world of people longing for love, hope, and purpose in life.
